A Yorkie was born

After years of planning it is finally happening. A little Yorkshire terrier boy was born last week and he will be our very own puppy - our very first puppy too. We had a Siberian husky when I was a kid, but he was an adult dog when we got him so this whole “puppy experience” will be new to us. I haven’t seen our Yorkie yet since his breeder does not allow visitors until the puppies are 5 week old and it’s difficult to imagine how tiny he must be right now.

At the moment I call him Pikkis (comes from a Finnish word pikkuinen which means very tiny) but I’m still trying to find that “ultimate Yorkie name” for our little baby. In my search for the perfect name, I have visited quite a few web sites listing doggy names. It surprises me how many people give their dog some very ordinary human name. People can of course name their dog what ever they want - it’s just that in my mind’s eye, I can see myself yelling “Dave” or “Pete” in a park and people will look me in pity thinking it’s my husband that has strayed away and not my dog.

Anyways. This is where its starts. If everything goes OK, that little Yorkie boy will move in mid-August.  I’m sure he will make a mess everywhere, eat our socks and chew our furniture but also fill our days with laughter and puppy kisses.
